The Red Heifer
Another Red Heifer Calf Is Born in the Golan Heights
Just a month and a half ago, the National Red Hefer Institute announced the birth of a red heifer calf in Israel. Now, on the eve of Tisha B'Av, the Institute is pleased to announce the birth of another red heifer calf in the Golan Heights.
This time, the heifer was born in the Golan Heights while her purity was strictly maintained—without an ear tag—since she was born in none other than the herd of Shai Givon, the farmer of the National Red Hefer Institute. It was Shai who had also identified the previous heifer in one of the dairy barns where he worked.
When asked how two red heifers were born so close together, Shai replied:
“I feel that we are living in a historic era. Since the last heifer was born, I have received inquiries and questions from all across the Jewish spectrum in Israel and abroad—Hasidim, Litvaks, secular Jews, and religious Jews. The Jewish people are more attuned than ever to the subject of the Temple and the restoration of purity to Israel, and God is opening opportunities that haven’t existed for 2,000 years.”
